Social Impact

The Social Impact strategy at Sanofi is articulated through three pillars: Corporate Social Responsibility, the non-profit Global Health Unit (GHU), which operates with the aim of providing access to essential medicines in the world's poorest countries, and Foundation S, the philanthropic arm of Sanofi.

Corporate social Responsibility

Aligned with its long-term business strategy, CSR is developed along four lines: sustainable access to health, support for vulnerable communities, efforts to minimise environmental impact and building increasingly inclusive workplaces.

Through the Planet Care programme, Sanofi has set itself some very ambitious goals in the area of environmental sustainability. The commitment is to achieve carbon neutrality in all areas by 2030, and net zero emissions in all operations (scope 1 and 2) and across the entire value chain (scope 3) by 2045. the company is already taking an end-to-end approach to reducing the environmental footprint of products. Investments in energy efficiency, decarbonisation of energy supplies, circularity of resources and reduction in the extraction of natural resources such as water continue to grow.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Gender equality at Sanofi Italia is the result of a process that invests the company culture and has led to the inclusion of the gender perspective within the organisational vision. Diversity represents an asset and this is why Sanofi continues to work with the aim of building leadership that is representative of the communities in which it operates, creating a work environment where everyone can give their best, get involved and create a positive impact in society.

Sanofi in Italy is among the first companies to have obtained the National Certification on Gender Equality, issued by the Ministry of Labour.

Volunteering

Sanofi is committed to corporate volunteering. Through the We Volunteer project, all employees have the opportunity to dedicate a working day each year to various social, environmental and support activities. Red Cross, Legambiente, Mission Bambini and Song Onlus are among the first associations involved by Sanofi in Italy. Almost 7,000 colleagues worldwide took part in the We Volunteer programme in 2022 alone, and in Italy over 160 volunteers volunteered to offer their support in the last year.

Patient associations

Interaction with patients and their families, Patient Protection Associations and Patient Associations is one of the fundamental elements of Sanofi's culture. The first Patient Council was organised in 2023, and on this occasion the Anagni industrial site hosted representatives of 19 Patient Associations from all the therapeutic areas covered by the company. An important moment of listening and sharing to fully understand the still unmet needs of patients and their caregivers.

Ethics and Transparency

Sanofi has always been committed to adopting policies and measures to ensure an ethical and transparent approach to its activities. Quality, ethics and integrity are essential principles for Sanofi, which operates with the aim of achieving the highest standards in all phases of product development, manufacturing, distribution, including activities entrusted to third parties or partners.
