Olivier Charmeil oversees Sanofi’s General Medicines unit, a diversified portfolio of iconic brands and essential medicines to meet the needs of millions of patients with chronic conditions. He is focused on pioneering possibilities that transform the practice of medicine and help patients manage their health conditions. Olivier and his team are leading the way to bring innovative solutions with the power of digital and technology to promote more sustainable healthcare systems in the future.
Olivier joined Sanofi in 1994 and became a member of the Executive Committee in 2011 when he was appointed Head of Sanofi Pasteur. He has held various positions across the company, most recently as Head of China & Emerging Markets, where he oversaw the company’s performance in that area. In June 2020, he was appointed as a member of the Board of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry Associations. Before joining Sanofi, Olivier worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions department at the Banque de l’Union Européenne.
Olivier is a graduate of HEC Paris (Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales) and of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
As a father of three multicultural children, he is aware of the power of diversity and inclusion that drive life forward. During his vacation time, Olivier likes to unwind while sailing in Brittany.
